What would become of the European Parliament? How would the new European Assembly work with the other institutions?

There is today an economic government in Europe which has become autonomous in comparison with the governance of Europe at the outset and the European Parliament around the Eurogroup. This justifies the creation of a new Assembly to ensure democratic control of this economic government. Furthermore, the European Assembly would be competent in fiscal matters, and therefore conceives of itself as a European body of the national Parliaments whereas the European Parliament has a more transnational status. However the European Parliament would not be an unknown quantity in this new Assembly since some of its elected members would already be members.
